Kiwi
Stamp Circuit
2003 Scenic Issue with Silver Ferns
Start of
another racket, or an interesting addition to your New Zealand collection ?
At the moment
opinions are divided.
Because
it was only possible to obtain these stamps by ordering a full set of complete
sheets from the Philatelic Bureau at $575, many members are concerned that only
dealers will have acquired them and that they will then hike up the prices.

Some
are concerned that it is the beginning of a trend and just another way to
fleece collectors. Others have chosen to ignore them, as they have for the Limited Editions.
We
decided that the only way most of our members who wanted the stamps with silver
ferns for their own collection, would get them, would be if we bought a
complete set and broke up the sheets.
Some other stamp clubs have done likewise for their members.
Enclosed
is an order form, with full details ~ send it in by 31st August.
Competition ~ Round the World Stamp Trail
Two
years ago many members enjoyed taking part in our 'Put the Kiwi Stamps in Order' competition and we promised to do
something similar again - so here it is.
Your
challenge is, to follow Jan and Dave on their last year's trip, with stamps
from around the world ~ you may recall, they attended the Commonwealth Games in
Manchester, visiting family and friends in England, taking in a tour of the
Canadian Rockies along the way and a brief stop-over in Hong Kong.
On
the entry form (enclosed with this newsletter) is a map of the world and a list
of 16 of the highlights of their journey. Hunt through your collections and
find a stamp relevant to each of the 16 topics and stick them in order, in the
16 squares on the map.
You
will get one point for each relevant
stamp and a second point for
each one you include that is different from the ones sent in by anybody else.
The
first prize is a 32-page stockbook,
second prize a 16-page stockbook and the third prize will be a 2004 ACS NZ
catalogue. Closing date is 30th September 2003.
Looking ahead.
With a wetter than usual winter behind us, we
can look forward with enthusiasm, to Spring and the meteorologist's promise
of "warmer than usual"
weather ahead.
We hope you will find
a few spare moments to hunt out some stamps and complete the trail; also time
to send us your thoughts on parcel posting without PODs (see on page 3).
Good luck to our All
Black team as they prepare to TAKE ON THE WORLD !
Best wishes Jan and Dave Butcher Circuit Managers
